2181 was an attempt to emulate the look of artist Mr. Hajime Sorayama's early works. I thought using 3D applications software would make it easy to create good-looking reflections and mirror effects, but I was fooling myself! I should have given more thought to the surrounding scenery and to the lighting. And, of course, as with any image, you need to start with a good design.... Nonetheless, overall I'm pleased with this piece, and I like the liberated feeling it has. I hope, of course, that you can sense a warm flesh and blood creature amid all that silver metallic coldness.... 2187.2 takes a character created for the copyright page of this collection, and places her against the background of 2181. I intended this to be a rather casual, simple illustration, but it came out looking much better than I thought it would.
